Hatoful Boyfriend Human Forms
I've been wanting an anime for ages, but it would take a lot of work to do it right. Likely there would have to be a somewhat original script written to adapt it right - Moa has stated there's no canon route so just make sure it doesn't contradict basic truths. As for the direction itself, I'd love it if it did like Wolf's Rain where the wolves were clearly wolves but often appeared in human form.
HB could do the same, look human most of the time but be a (realistic) bird when physically touching or flying or just as an artistic touch remind you that YES they're still birds.5-10 min shorts would work as a comedy but I think it would need at least 15-20 minutes if it ever wanted to have an overarching storyline. I like that idea Special Curry and it would make sense and don't weird newcomers to the game out. But then again there is that charm that makes you like/love the birds on their personalities alone rather than appearance, but I can definately seeing your approach work. =)Personally, I think it could work out as one of those 12 or 24 only episodes. There's enough story material from the game to at least stretch it for that long. They could add a blended mixture of the various routes that could make up the first six/seven episodes at most. Then they could add the events from Holiday Star to make up more episodes.
If this was a 24 episodes only anime, then BBL would definately be the last four episodes. Interesting ideas in here:DI think it could work out as an anime and maybe they could put the human forums to more use as the first poster Special Curry has said. Appearing in human forum and going into birdie form whenever flying or doing actual bird-type things or being interacted with by the main character.Speaking of the main character, Hiyoko has no canon design and even the manga is told from her prospective and her speach is represented with a little meat symbol. So if Hatofl Boyfriend were to get an anime, do you think Hiyoko would finally get an official design, or do you think the story would be told from the first person prospective?I've seen an episode of Black Butler told in that way, it was an extra episode in season 2 where the viewer was a character visiting Ciel's mansion and at the end, Sebastian sung happy birthday to the viewer and got in close to hear his/her name. So this style could work if done like that, might be awkward to watch, but this particular episode of BB still worked with the first-person prospective. If you want to watch the episode i'm talking about, Black Butler is curently streaming on Netflix:). Kuro@ Ooh, that's something I haven't seen or heard of.
Other than the heroine of the story, characters of Hatoful are all birds, though they're not all pigeons. They have the ability to speak and are believed to be far larger than ordinary birds. It is believed that whatever that gave them the ability to speak also grew them to a large size. Hatoful Boyfriend Wiki is a FANDOM Games Community.
=OThat could work, or they could give Hiyoko an offical design, I know Moa probably wanted to leave to our imagination what she would look like, but having a offical design does help. =PAnother character who also doesn't have an offical design (kinda) is Anna from Tales of Symphonia. In the manga, you only see the back of her or the bottom half of her face in the locket picture in one of the EX volume of the Manga series.
While in the OVA, you only see a shadowy figure. But I don't know if that could work for Hiyoko's case. So it probably would be from a first person point of view (like you said) or make an offical design. =)And yeah, like I said that approach could work out well, (and it would help probably attract newcomers into game/anime without them being freaked.) I mean half of the BGs are essentially designed if the birds were human-sized, if they were actually the size of real birds, then that might pose a problem for poor Hiyoko. XDSo logically it would make sense for both the birds and Hiyoko to have the same sizes. In the manga you get with the deluxe edition you see the birds sitting in chairs, reading books, using surf boards, all of which we can assume are human-sized. At first when i watched Cry's play through i assumed they were normal bird size but after getting into the game i thought they might be giant birds.I've seen some fan art for this as well (them being giant birds i mean), but the whole idea of them being small birds seems to be more popular and easier to draw so i couldn't mind too much fan art with them as really big birds. One example of a picture i'm talking about is a fan potrayl of Hiyoko and she's sitting with Ryota, who she's kind of using as a pillow because he's so big (idk how else to describe it, soon as i saw that picture i thought she was using a giant Ryota as a pillow. Cloud nine cafe wyomissing.
Lol.)It would definately make sence whether or not the human forms would be used.

Weekly Question: Although Hatoful Boyfriend is famous for being a lol, pigeons VN, the troue route genre shift is often considered the best part of the game. Do you think it's a posiitive or a negative that such an interesting ending is hidden behind a number of more medicore routes? And how do you encourage people to read through the whole thing without spoiling the impact of the genre shift?I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please if you have any questions or concerns.
So, I really like Hatoful Boyfriend. I have both games, some of the bird plushies from the Kickstarter, and Absolute Zero, the side comic written by Anghel. (One day I will have all of the side comics.)I like how it looks like an April fool's joke on the surface (which it is), but has surprising depth and emotion beneath. I liked how things were neatly foreshadowed, and how it got me to care for a bunch of stock images of birds.
I think Hato Moa is a good writer and I can't wait for (her?) future works; think she has a detective story coming up.Did I mention I like Hatoful Boyfriend?Edit: yup, the future game is called.
