Plus, there are other games-that while they might not have the same exact approach to taming or aerial combat, are ultimately more satisfying as a whole.GraphicsThe graphics have that super sharp feel that makes everything feel cheap. Overall the art just feels super uninspired and generic. It's not as pretty as realistic graphics like Guild Wars 2, but it also doesn't have the cartoony charm or flair that WoW or Wildstar has. I turned my graphics up the highest they could go but textures still looked really bad even if my character looked semi decent.CombatWhile I haven't spent a ton of time in the game, my first impressions weren't good. Combat is very average, with tab targeting or a more action oriented camera. The action camera feels smooth, but the combat feels clunky with rotations starting out too complex and unintuitive.
My mage has 3 spells, and it seems like each one has a buff, a combo, and then some sort of rotational priority? It reminds me of Archeage, but not as good. Not that Archeage had particularly amazing combat. But things here feel floaty.
In addition, a lot of my spells had buffs and besides tiny little icons in the top right of my screen-it's hard to tell what's active or isn't. There does seem to be some sort of indication with my player's hands and the spells but it's still not clear.Plus the class fantasy feels off why do I have a light spell, a fire spell, and then an ice spell all at once?
Needless to say, it didn't matter much as I pretty much one shot entry level mobs so I couldn't get a good feel for my rotation. Spell effects are cool-however-you need to have your graphics turned way up to notice them.StoryStory is your typical cheese fest and the intro movie seems like some sort of fan made machinima. It's nice that everything is voice acted, but that doesn't mean it's good voice acting or interesting like SWTOR.It takes itself very seriously. When you start out you're leaving a dungeon and navigated through various cutscenes with a birdman.
Then you end the intro by flying out into the sunlight on a pegasus. Harry potter and the order of the phoenix full movie free. Been playing it pretty much all day and it's already starting to wear on me.The challenge is fairly decent but there are a lot of things wrong with the basic design of the game. First and foremost, I know it's an open beta and more content is on the way very soon but currently there is a shocking lack of content.
If I wanted to I probably could have hit the current cap in a day.The areas are tiny and once you complete the first round of quests in an area, a bunch more pop up immediately and your basically going right back to kill all the same stuff for different reasons. Beavis and butthead laughing. This poses a couple problems. Aside from it feeling really cheap and insanely grindy to recycle small areas like that, you will have a hell of time trying to play with others who haven't finished the first round of quests.
It gets annoying very quickly.I would say the leveling experience thus far has been slightly worse than Tera but with a similar feel. Follow quest lines through corridored terrain with invisible walls with pretty much no reason to explore. Any areas outside the quest corridors that you can reach are virtually empty and static.Crafting. I don't expect much when it comes to crafting in Korean games and this is no exception.
While the crafting is special ed simplistic, crafting gear for yourself while leveling is completely pointless since the quest gear is always better - which is very typical. Like every Korean MMO I've played, crafting seems suited to end game - if that. Doubt I will get that far to even verify.Taming is super easy and there doesn't appear to be a skill line associated with it.
You're basically limited by your own character level as to how difficult taming a creature will be.Solo only main story instances. As a melee class I was also getting some pretty bad combat lag, as in unresponsive, which was making a nightmare of my combos. But I'll write that off as current server load. Also it's by no means action combat.
It's basically just mouse look with 1st and 2nd hotbar skills assigned to LMB and RMB respectively. I'm surprised people are calling this action combat.Having other players around also felt like a hindrance.
There's no open tapping, you have to camp mobs, and looting quest objectives can be interrupted if you're hit, causing people to ninja-loot your objective, which happened constantly. Respawn on quest objectives was also unreasonable slow while mob respawn rate, in typical Korean fashion, was unreasonably fast.Beautiful looking game but overall a mostly frustrating experience. It felt like rather than taking the better aspects of modern MMOs they took the worst aspects of old ones. I really wonder if this design team ever played an MMO at all. Also the install will by default want to edit your registry to adjust system wide.
So be sure you really want to do that. A fascinating thing I discovered as an mmo player is that people who only play mmos have REALLY LOW standards when it comes to graphics. Since you end up playing 2 4 6 12 18 hours a day in a game, usually with settings turned down for pvp or group events, sometimes for months-years at a time, your brain uses whatever the current game you are playing as the benchmark. And if you are playing a korean ported game that came to the west 3 years late, or an ancient western mmo, then your idea of top quality graphics subconsciously gets stuck 5+ years in the past. The monster taming thing is interesting.
Stylistically, it feels like Aion, but with an even less interesting story. Combat is the generic same old stuff, except for the camera, which is far more challenging than the actual enemies. Classes are the typical warrior/rogue/priest/mage with absolutely no innovation whatsoever. Ultimately, the monster taming stuff ends up feeling like a gimmick. It has some tedious GameGuard anti-cheating software that the game loads, if that makes a difference. There's nothing in the game that is actually bad, really. But honestly there are better and more interesting MMO's out there that you can spend your time on.

Woah thats truly bad. My server (raken) hopefully has still active players(mostly high ranked ones) so yeah I meet with others quite frequently. For example, today I participated in the Merciless,World Raid event and there were A LOT of players.
It was really fun! But I felt like this would be the only time to meet up with so many people. As far as quests are involved, I ended up not even knowing what Im doing. I just killed monsters, talked to random people and all this struggle just to keep up with my main quests. I just hope I will be able to reach a decent level(50 maybe?). I think I finished most of my quests(main & side ones) so my only option is to either get in a guild or go to dungeons.
The problem of the game was the release I think. I played for about the first 2 months and there was several problems.useless professions.
The only reason to craft something (outside of mounts) was for achievements.World bosses, the bosses respawned around 8 hours (I think) and they only reward to the first guy that hit him. This created a shit show on forums because some people camped them all day in every server and used some script to insta target the boss on respawn. No PVP at release (ok, you had duels).Dungeons were super fun for me but the gear upgrade system make all the process a pain in the ass. Obviously there was a special currency in the shop to make it easier.Achievement system was stupid, 'complete x dungeon 1000 times' and it's a level 10 (or 15?) dungeon.Overall I think the mount system and questing was fun for me but eventually people got tired with the dungeons. So the only survivors were the people who like mounts and stuff.
